How to Choose a Car Wrap Company | VanWrap.ca

Choosing a car wrap company matters more than choosing a design. The same artwork can look sharp for years or start lifting at the edges in a season, and the difference is the shop: the film it buys, how it prepares the vehicle, and whether it stands behind the install.

Prices in this trade vary a lot, and the cheapest quote usually explains itself later. This is what to check before you hand over your keys, and how we run things at VanWrap.ca in Mississauga, where the design, printing and installation all happen under one roof.

What to look for

  • Real photos of finished vehicles. A shop's own gallery of completed work tells you more than any promise. Look for close shots of edges, mirrors and bumpers, not just wide angles.
  • Named film, not mystery vinyl. Ask what film will go on your vehicle. Proper cast wrap film from established makers behaves and lasts; cheap calendared film shrinks, cracks and takes adhesive with it when removed.
  • A proof on your actual vehicle. You should approve a scaled design on a template of your make and model. If a shop wants to print without one, walk away.
  • Honest talk about your paint. A good shop checks the vehicle first and tells you if rust, peeling clear coat or fresh repairs will cause trouble under film.
  • One accountable place. When design, print and install sit in different businesses, every problem is someone else's fault. One shop doing all three owns the result.
  • A written quote with the work spelled out. Coverage, film type and design work should be clear before you book, so quotes can be compared fairly.

How it works

  1. Quote. Tell us the vehicle and what you want it to do. We look at the vehicle, talk through full wrap, partial wrap or lettering, and price the job in writing.
  2. Design proof. Our designers build the layout on a template of your vehicle. You approve colours, placement and wording before anything is printed.
  3. Print. Panels are printed and laminated here, or cut from colour change film, and checked against the proof.
  4. Install. The same shop that designed and printed the job installs it, in a clean indoor bay, with trim removed where the work needs it.
  5. Pickup. We walk around the vehicle with you, edges and seams included, and explain care. If something is not right, you are talking to the people who did every stage.

Questions

Why is one quote so much lower than the others? Usually the film, the prep or the time. Cheap film and rushed installs are where low quotes come from, and both show up within a year or two as lifting edges, shrinkage and dull colour. Ask each shop what film they use and compare answers, not just totals.

Does it matter that vans are your specialty? For van work, yes. Cargo vans and Sprinters are our daily bread, and the templates, panel planning and install habits are built around them. The same crew wraps cars, trucks, trailers and fleets, but a shop that wraps vans every week knows where they rust, leak and fight back.

Should I get design done somewhere else and bring you the files? You can, and ready artwork is welcome. Most customers let us design because the proof is built on the exact vehicle template and the designer talks directly to the installer. Either way, nothing prints without your approval of the final layout.
